Classes for YOUTH - Ages 6-14

MIXED APPARATUS CLASSES

If you’re new to Xelias or aerial arts, we require that you register for a Mixed Apparatus class. In these classes, students will rotate through several apparatuses each class, gaining strength & skills on all as each discipline reinforces the others. Mixed Apparatus classes are suitable for students of all experience levels – we challenge each student at their individual level. Apparatuses could include Tissu, Trapeze, Lyra, Rope, Hammock, and more!

 MIXED APPARATUS CLASS OPTIONS

Our Intermediate Tuesday 4:30 Mixed Apparatus class is specifically for long-term Xelias students, ages 9-14. Students are expected to be solid on the Xelias “basics” and be ready to train hard and be challenged. We will also feature more of our less-frequent apparatuses such as Lyra, Spanish Web, and more. If you’re not sure if this class is the right fit for you, ask a coach or email us.

SELECT APPARATUS CLASSES

Wishing to focus on one apparatus? We have several options, but will always require students start with a Mixed Apparatus class as the variety encourages well-rounded strength and a good foundation. For this reason our select apparatus classes start a little older & have prerequisites. If your child has an apparatus at home or at a friends house but has not taken class before, we require that you start with a Mixed Apparatus class.

  • TISSU – Saturday 1pm – Ages 11-15
    • Prerequisites for this class: familiarity with angel descent (from standing or from a climb), can wrap & step climb to the top of the tissu
  • We will work on climbs, static skills and sequences, drops, and transitions.
  • We have a strong focus on technique, strength, and safety in the air.
  • An all-Tissu class is great for your grip & endurance!

  •  On both apparatuses, students will learn individual skills, sequences, drops, and transitions.
  • Hammock allows students to work on drops, longer sequences, and spinning.
  • This class is a great stepping stone between a Mixed Apparatus class and an all-Tissu class, if that is a goal.

Intermediate/Advanced Classes

How do you know if you/your child is ready for an intermediate/advanced class? The easy answer is, your coaches will let you know. Our “all level” classes are truly intended to be all levels. If aerial arts is “your thing” and you want to advance, we strongly recommend taking more than one class per week. Intermediate/advanced classes will be listed on Acuity with Teen/Adult classes but some can include students under 15.

Classes for TEENS (ages 15 & older) and ADULTS

Mixed Apparatus classes are suitable for students of all experience levels – we challenge each student at their individual level. Apparatuses could include Tissu, Trapeze, Lyra, Rope, Hammock, and more!

SELECT APPARATUS CLASSES

Wishing to focus on one apparatus? We have several options, but will always require students start with a Mixed Apparatus class as the variety encourages well-rounded strength and a good foundation. For this reason our select apparatus classes are open only to students who have previous experience at Xelias or with aerial arts classes, and some classes may have specific prerequisites.

  • On Trapeze: we have both Multiple and Solo Trapezes (all static). Students will learn skills, transitions, sequences, and more.

  • Both apparatuses will reinforce each other!
HAMMOCK Thursday 5:30pm
  • Prerequisite for this class: previous experience at Xelias or aerial arts classes
  •  Hammock (or sling) is the same material as Tissu, tied to make a loop.

Ground-Based Classes & Miscellaneous

STRENGTH & FLEX Saturday 2pm
  • Open to students ages 13+ to adults. All levels – but students must have taken at least one aerial arts class prior. Students will be challenged at their individual level.
  • Aerial arts requires a large amount of flexibility, strength, endurance, and coordination. Adding Strength & Flex to you weekly schedule will allow you to progress faster.
  • This is not a skill-based class. By using a variety of aerial apparatuses to condition, students will gain strength & endurance.
  • In the last third of class, we do an extended stretch, targeted to aerial-specific goals.
  •  Strength & Flex will help you reach your aerial goals, plus it’s FUN!
